Classification and characteristics of PP board

Oct. 09, 2020

PP board is also known as the copolymer PP material, has a lower thermal distortion temperature (100℃), low transparency, low gloss, low rigidity, but has a stronger impact strength. The strength of PP increases with the increase of ethylene content. The Vica softening temperature of PP is 150℃.Due to its high crystallinity, the material has good external stiffness and scratch resistance. Environmental stress cracking does not exist in PP. Usually, the use of glass fiber, metal additives or thermoplastic rubber methods to modify the PP.

Classification and characteristics of PP board

The activity rate of PP ranges from 1 to 40.PP materials with low MFR have better impact resistance but lower tensile strength. For materials with the same MFR, the copolymer type has higher strength than the homopolymer type.Due to crystallization, the shrinkage of PP is quite high, usually 1.8~2.5%.And the directional average of shrinkage ratio is much better than PE-HD and other materials. The addition of 30% glass additives can reduce the shrinkage rate to 0.7%.Both homopolymer and copolymer PP materials have excellent water resistance, acid-base corrosion resistance and solubility resistance. However, it has no resistance to aromatic hydrocarbon (such as benzene) solvent, chlorinated hydrocarbon (carbon tetrachloride) solvent, etc.PP is also not like PE at high temperature still has antioxidant properties.

Classification and characteristics of PP board

Classification of PP board:

1. Pure PP board

Small density, easy welding and processing, with excellent resistance to chemical, heat and impact resistance, non-toxic, tasteless, is one of the best of engineering plastics to meet environmental requirements. The main color is white, microcomputer color, other colors can also be customized according to customer request, the application range is acid and alkali resistance equipment.

2. Poly propylene (PP) extrusion board

It is PP resin added to participate in a variety of functional additives by extrusion, pressure, cooling, cutting and other processes made of plastic sheet.

3. FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics) PP composite board

After 20% reinforced by glass fiber, in addition to adhering to the original excellent performance, strength&rigidity are twice as good as PP, and has good heat resistance, low temperature impact, corrosion resistance, arc resistance, low shrinkage.Especially suitable for chemical fiber, chlor-alkali, petroleum, dyestuff, pesticide, food, medicine, light industry, metallurgy, sewage disposal, etc.
